El intendente de la localidad misionera de Eldorado, Fabio Martínez, fue detenido por fuerzas policiales luego de intentar escapar de un control caminero. El hecho provocó un escándalo político en la provincia de Misiones.

Según los agentes, Martínez, que manejaba una camioneta Toyota Hilux, no acató la voz de alto y se fugó, por lo que fue perseguido por un patrullero.

Cuando le dieron alcance procedieron a detenerlo: se encontraba en estado de ebriedad, contestaba con dificultad y al ser obligado a salir del vehículo no podía mantenerse en pie. 

En las imágenes del hecho, que fue filmado, los efectivos dejaron constancia de que en el interior del vehículo había latas de cerveza y otros restos de bebidas alcohólicas.

En el asiento trasero, además, viajaba una mujer trans, que luego fue identificada como “Vicki“, que se resistía a salir de la camioneta.

El control buscaba dar con un preso que se había escapado de la Unidad Penitenciaria III y que un rato antes había sido visto en un aserradero de la zona.

Por eso la Policía y el Servicio Penitenciario realizaban un intenso operativo cerrojo en las rutas cercanas al pueblo, que terminó con la inesperada detención.

La situación conmocionó a Eldorado, un pueblo de 57 mil habitantes, considerado la tercera ciudad de la provincia y ubicado a poco más de 200 kilómetros de Posadas, la capital. Martínez fue electo en los comicios de 2019, en los que se había postulado por el Frente Renovador.
